Day 1

Day 1 Johannesburg to Tremisana Game Lodge

Guests are collected from OR Tambo International Airport or a pre-arranged hotel/guest lodge within the city precinct of Johannesburg or Pretoria. The route to the Kruger National Park in the Mpumalanga Province takes you from the wide-open spaces of the Highveld, down the escarpment and through the scenic Lowveld region.
Stopover for lunch along the way (own expense). Arrive at the Tremisana Lodge mid-day; book into your accommodation, freshen up and rest. Transfer to an open Landcruiser for an exciting game drive. As darkness falls, we stop at the famous Marula Boma for a memorable Bush BBQ. Overnight in the air-conditioned ensuite chalet.

Tremisana Game Lodge

Expect first-rate Big Five viewing at Tremisana Lodge, which stands in the heart of Balule Nature Reserve, within the vast African wilderness of the Greater Kruger ecosystem. Guided game drives, tasty meals and modern air-conditioned chalets are all part of the safari experience offered at Tremisana, which also overlooks a waterhole where elephants regularly come to drink.

Day 2

Day 2 Morning Bush Walk and Afternoon Safari Drive

Early morning wake-up for hot beverages and rusks before setting off to a remote corner of Balule Game Reserve for a 4-hour guided bush walk along the Olifants River with an armed safari guide. Enjoy the sights and sounds of a real bushveld experience while keeping a keen eye on the thick bush for the Big Five and an abundance of antelope, predators and indigenous birds.

Return to Tremisana Game Lodge for a late breakfast and refreshments; relax and freshen up before it’s time for mid-afternoon tea and the afternoon game drive which takes your from Balule to your accommodation in Motlala Game Reserve.

Overnight in tented accommodation at Marc’s Tented Lodge.

Accommodation – Day 2

Marc's Treehouse Lodge

You can look forward to an immersive African bush experience at Marc’s Tented Lodge. This rustic small lodge will accommodate you in a stilted wood, canvas and thatch unit set in the riparian forest that fringes the Klaserie River as it runs through Motlala Game Reserve. Despite the bush feel, treehouses all have fans, nets and private bathrooms. There are also viewing decks from where birders can look out for forest specialists such as Narina trogon, purple-crested turaco and trumpeter hornbill. Motlala is home to three of the Big Five (rhino, buffalo and leopard) as well as giraffe, zebra, hyena and nyala antelope, and it forms a good base for day safaris into Kruger National Park.

Wake up early for hot beverages and rusks and then it’s time to depart for a full day safari tour in the Kruger National Park. We enter via Orpen Gate and spend the day exploring the upper-south and central region. Lunch break at a popular Kruger Park rest camp (your own cost). Return to your lodge as the sun sets; freshen up and join your guide for a starlit dinner at the lodge lapa.

Day 4 Moholoholo Wildlife Centre and afternoon Safari Drive

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before departing for Hoedspruit where we’ll spend the morning meeting the wild ambassadors of Moholoholo Rehabilitation Centre. You’ll get up close to lions, leopards, cheetah and hyena and meet an incredible array of birds of prey that have been rescued and treated by the wonderful team at Moholoholo.

Return to Motlala Game Reserve mid-day; relax around the camp until it’s time to depart for a late-afternoon game drive.
