Day 1

Flight from Johannesburg to the Kruger National Park

Departing from Johannesburg OR Tambo Airport, we'll fly you to Hoedspruit in about 50 minutes. Upon arrival, we transfer you by road to Greenfire Game Lodge in the heart of Balule Nature Reserve. This 540km² private reserve shares open borders with Greater Kruger and is bisected by the beautiful Olifants River, a magnet for thirsty wildlife year-round.

After settling in and enjoying a light lunch, we head out for your first game drive in an open 4x4. Balule offers excellent chances to spot all of the Big Five, including lion, leopard, rhino, elephant, and buffalo. The reserve's lush riverine landscape attracts large herds of giraffe and other creatures seeking water.

As the sun sets over the African bush, we return to camp where dinner awaits around the firepit, a perfect end to your first day on safari.

Activities Day 1

Mid-Morning

Depart on a Mid-Morning / Early Afternoon 50min flight from the Johannesburg OR Tambo Airport to the Hoedspruit Airport.

Arrival at the Hoedspruit Airport, meet with your guide at the Arrivals desk, Transfer by Road, Hoedspruit Airport to Greenfire Game Lodge

Slow down and take a break as we serve you lunch.

Come with us on an afternoon / evening game drive in Balule Private Game Reserve. The light is ideal for photos, temperatures are cooler and the animals are beginning to become more active.

Night

Tonight a home cooked meal is served at the Greenfire lodge, a dinner to remember.

Greenfire Game Lodge is a dramatically revamped ecotourism destination located in Balule Private Game Reserve. The 50 000-hectare reserve is one of the unfenced private reserves that fall within the Greater Kruger, which lies adjacent to the iconic Kruger National Park. Game roams freely between the two vast wilderness regions so you’re guaranteed incredible Big 5 wildlife sightings.

Day 2 & 3

Morning and Afternoon Big 5 Safari Drives

We'll wake you early for hot beverages before heading out on an early morning game drive. This is a great time to explore when animals are active and the morning light makes for stunning photos. The river attracts large numbers of elephants, giraffes, and buffalo, and we might see lions, leopards, and other wildlife along its banks.

After returning for a hearty breakfast, you'll have time to relax at Greenfire Game Lodge and enjoy lunch.

In the late afternoon, we'll take you out again for an evening game drive. As temperatures cool and the light turns golden, predators become active and the bush comes alive. This time of day offers excellent wildlife viewing opportunities in one of Greater Kruger's scenic private reserves.

Tonight you'll stay in a luxury suite at Greenfire Game Lodge.

Day 4

Morning Safari Drive and Return to Johannesburg

Early morning, we set off for one final game drive in Balule Game Reserve. As the sun rises and casts its soft light across the bush, animals emerge from their night's rest and become active. This is your last chance to spot the wildlife that calls this reserve home, and the cool morning air makes it a perfect time to be out exploring. After the drive, we return to the lodge for a late breakfast, giving you time to relax and reflect on your safari experiences before checking out.

Late morning, we depart Balule and transfer by road to the airstrip for your flight back to Johannesburg.
