Day 1

Kruger National Park

Departing from the Johannesburg OR Tambo at mid-day on a 50min flight to the Skukuza Airport located in the heart of the Kruger National Park. The flight route to the Kruger National Park in the Mpumalanga Province takes you over the wide-open spaces of the Highveld, down the escarpment and through the scenic Lowveld region.

You will be collected from the Skukuza Airport, check into your luxury train carriage suite and have time to freshen up, enjoy a light lunch and relax before departing on an open safari vehicle for your first afternoon game drive in the reserve.

Back at the lodge a delicious dinner under starlight will await you.

You overnight in your luxury carriage suite at Shalati Train on the Bridge and your deal includes lunch and dinner.

Shalati Train on the Bridge

One of the most exciting new offerings in Kruger National Park is the Kruger Shalati Train on the Bridge. This unique concept combines Africa's natural beauty with luxury aboard a refurbished train. Permanently stationed on the historical Selati Bridge high above the Sabie River at Skukuza Rest Camp, the train offers truly distinctive accommodation. From your carriage, you overlook the river where wildlife comes to drink. Hippos, crocodiles, and elephants are often spotted from the deck. The train blends history with comfort, creating an experience unlike any other lodge in South Africa. We think this is a remarkable place to stay during your safari.

Day 2 & 3

Kruger National Park

We will wake you before dawn for an early morning outing in Kruger National Park. As the sun rises over the African bush, you might encounter lions returning from their night hunt, elephants crossing the road, or a leopard resting in a tree. This vast 20,000km² sanctuary is home to the Big Five and never fails to surprise. The soft morning light is perfect for photography, and animals are at their most active now.

After returning to camp, we will serve you a hearty brunch. You can spend the afternoon relaxing by the pool or simply enjoying the sounds of the bush.

Later, we will head out again for an afternoon outing with our expert guide. This is another excellent time to spot wildlife, from graceful giraffes and zebras to powerful rhinos and buffalo. As the day ends, we will return to camp where dinner awaits you under the stars.

What is more, this re-envisioned train pays homage to the first guests who explored the park by train nearly a century ago since it is positioned in the exact spot where that historical train would park overnight. Whether you’re in search of a one-of-a-kind adventure, an engrossing break or to simply immerse yourself in the finest of luxuries, Kruger Shalati will take you on a special, most extraordinary journey. The lodge, with its 31 rooms, consisting of 24 carriage rooms and 7 Bridge House rooms, all provide a most original experience, tailor-made to enjoy utter comfort in an awesome way.

Final day with us

Rise early for one last morning excursion before breakfast. As the soft morning light spreads across the landscape, you might encounter wildlife at their most active, making this final experience memorable.

After breakfast at the lodge, we'll transfer you to Skukuza Airport for your flight back to Johannesburg. Upon arrival at O.R. Tambo International Airport, your safari adventure concludes in South Africa's largest and most vibrant city.
