Introduction

Elephant Plains Game Lodge opened its doors in 1998 and has been in the same family ever since. The lodge is situated on the dry Manyeleti riverbed, overlooking an open veld and watering hole.

The main building houses a reception area, dining areas, lounge, bar and wine cellar, as well as a curio shop for those souvenirs. It can accommodate a maximum of 24 guests, guaranteeing a warm, friendly atmosphere and personal service.

Day 1

Day 1 Johannesburg to Elephant Plains Safari Lodge

Guests are collected from OR Tambo International Airport bus terminal at 07:00am in a minivan.

The route to the Kruger National Park in the Mpumalanga Province takes you from the wide-open spaces of the Highveld, down the escarpment and through the scenic Lowveld region.

During the long six hours’ drive you will stop for refreshments and reach the lodge around mid-day.

You can first freshen up and relax a while before departing with a guide on an open safari vehicle for your first afternoon game drive in the reserve.

Back at the lodge a scrumptious dinner in friendly ambience will await you.

Day 2 to 4 Morning and Afternoon Safari Drives

You will rise early and be served a selection of hot beverages and rusks before departing on your 3-hour morning game drive, with the sun rising in the east.

On return to the lodge you can enjoy a late breakfast and choose to spend the rest of the day at the pool, library or lazing around.

Your afternoon open vehicle game drive with an expert guide will commence at about 16:00, to return in time for another starlit dinner.

Elephant Plains Game Lodge

The five rondavels are set in the beautifully landscaped garden of the original family holiday camp and one can still feel the old bushveld charm upon entering. The rondavels have sundecks, en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning, overhead fans, mini bars, tea/coffee facilities, mosquito nets and electronic safes. While elegant and luxurious, the rondavels offer affordable game lodge accommodation.

Day 5 Morning Safari Drive and Return to Johannesburg

Rise early again, enjoy a hot beverage and rusk, and say goodbye to the bush during a last morning game drive.

After enjoying a last African sunrise, you return to the lodge for breakfast before departing to Johannesburg. You will arrive at your drop-off point at approximately 17:00.
